“Be” or “Do” Candidates
Dear Friend,
It’s been said some people run for Congress to BE someone. Some run for Congress to DO something.
I’m not running for Congress to BE someone, other than who I am. I’m proud of my 28 years of military, corporate and leadership experience, the most of any candidate in this race.
I’m running for Congress to DO something, namely to continue to make significant contributions to our country, our state, and the families of the Second Congressional District.
One example of my experience and ability to get things done was my testimony provided to the Defense Advisory Committee on Women In the Services (DACOWITS) in 2017. During this testimony, my team of four co-authors presented data and trends regarding the health and wellness challenges faced by women veterans, and the need for legislative support of our pilot program.
The Committee cited this testimony and our program as a “Best Practice” for transitioning servicemembers. As a result, the program became legislation as Title 1 of the Deborah Sampson Act.

This is just one example of many. I’ve got the federal track record of significant service and achievements for my community. I will do the same, and more for CD2.
With your help and support, I’ll hit the ground running on Day One as your next member of Congress. If you think our district is best served by a candidate who wants to “do” something more than they want to “be” someone, it would be an honor to earn your vote.
In service to you, our state and nation,
Erika Cashin
