Bernie inspires racist, sexist rant By Don Frost

Freshman Republican Rep. Mary Miller was taken to task recently for accurately citing Adolf Hitler’s words as a warning about the state of public education in America today. “ ‘Whoever has the youth has the future,’ ” she quoted him as saying, adding, “Our children are being propagandize.”
The Left went bonkers, mostly over the Hitler reference, demanding her resignation. It’s what “liberals” do when someone says or does something of which they disapprove. Quickest way to shut someone up with disapproved thoughts is to get that person fired.
In Miller’s case the outrage over the Hitler reference also served as a smoke screen to conceal “liberal’s” greatest objection to her speech: She also said that schools are feeding propaganda to students. More about that later.
Ingrid Seyer-Ochi, a high school teacher in San Francisco, published an op-ed piece in the San Francisco Chronicle in which she ripped Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, claiming that his choice of winter garb while attending the inauguration of President Biden was an example of “. . . white privilege, male privilege, and class privilege”
What drove her to distraction was the picture of him huddled on a folding chair in a heavy winter coat and mittens that has since made its way into countless very funny memes.
She discussed Sanders’ ensemble with her students over Zoom and, she said, they agreed with her that his outfit was an outrageous insult. In that discussion she said she and the students talked “about gender and the possible meanings of the attire chosen by Vice President Kamala Harris, Dr. Jill Biden, the Biden grandchildren, Michelle Obama, Amanda Gorman, and others. We referenced the female warriors inspiring these women, the colors of their educational degrees and their monochromatic ensembles of pure power.” (Whatever that last line means.)
She claimed that Sanders’ female colleagues could not get away with such casual attire, as worn by Sanders, at such a prestigious event. Evidently she did not see – or chose not to see – Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Socialist Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Both were dressed identically to Sanders – though they lacked his colorful mittens.
She wrote, “I don’t know many poor, or working-class, or female, or struggling-to-be-taken seriously folk who would show up at the inauguration of our 46th president dressed like Bernie. Unless those same folk had privilege. Which they don’t.”
Again, what about Yellen and Warren?
Seyer-Ochi did not win the universal praise she undoubtedly expected. From all quarters she was roundly bashed. Mostly this Californian needed to be reminded that it was bloody cold that day and all reasonable people gathered outside to watch the event dressed accordingly.
“What a stupid and appalling article, all based on how Bernie dressed,” Pulitzer Prize winning-journalist Glenn Greenwald said. “As stupid and gross as it is, it represents a large and growing sector of Left-liberal thought.”
“Ugh,” RealClearPolitics President Tom Bevan said. She was “so humorless she took a funny meme and turned it into a meta-narrative about white privilege.”
Getting back to Miller: Seyer-Ochi’s op-ed piece proved that what Miller said was true: “Our children are being propagandized.” Seyer-Ochi says her students agreed with her assessment of Sanders as an example of “white privilege.” And why wouldn’t they agree with her? She’s an authority figure who makes out their grades. Besides, “white privilege” is a buzz term today that all the popular kids endorse in fear of being ostracized for being “insensitive.” They’re not about to offend their peers and tell her, “Ms. Seyer-Ochi, your totally wrong and expressing views that are racist and sexist.” They’re just malleable kids at an age when going along with the crowd – and getting a driver’s license – is the most important thing in their lives.
It’s difficult to learn much about Seyer-Ochi. Her profile on Linkedin has been taken down. But surely she’s not being paid to inculcate compliant teenagers with her hate-filled, misandristic views. Or worse, she just might be getting paid to do precisely that.
Bizarre as it is, she actually might have been following a California Board of Education mandate that requires her to put down men in general and white men in particular. The Illinois Board of Education, for example, requires all teachers to lionize citizens of virtually every nationality and ethnic group in the world; LGBTQ people; black people; Hispanics; women; and even people with disabilities.
