BREAKING: AMERICA FIRST LEGAL RELEASES FIRST SET OF JOE BIDEN’S VICE-PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS FROM NATIONAL ARCHIVES

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, America First Legal (AFL) released the first production of records obtained from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in our lawsuit against the National Archives and Records Administration regarding Hunter Biden and his corrupt foreign business dealings and records from Joe Biden’s time as Vice President in the Obama Administration.

This is just the initial production and we anticipate obtaining more documents in the coming months ahead as the result of our litigation.

This initial set of documents includes evidence that:

1. Confirms that then-Vice President Biden used a personal email address for official government business;
2. Hunter Biden should have registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), and the Obama Administration had concerns about Hunter Biden’s appointment to Burisma;
3. That the Office of the Vice President (OVP) coordinated directly with Hunter Biden for media responses.

Use of Personal Email Addresses for Official Business as Vice President

The documents confirm the long-suspected fact that Joe Biden used a personal email address for at least some official government business ([email protected]). This email address was used to receive sensitive information about his son, Hunter Biden, from his then-Assistant for Communications Shailagh Murray:

The National Archives provided the following reason for withholding the rest of the email: “P5 Release would disclose confidential advice between the President and his advisors, or between such advisors.” This definitively establishes that the email address in question belonged to then Vice-President Biden.

Hunter Biden Should Have Registered Under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) Regarding His Activities with Burisma

Hunter was both a board member of Burisma, a “foreign principal” under 22 U.S.C. § 611(b), and an attorney at the law firm representing it. Hunter Biden was arguably Burisma’s agent and subject to FARA registration because he was an officer of Burisma and appears to have represented Burisma’s interests to the Office of the Vice President.

The Obama Administration and Biden’s National Security Council (NSC) staff took concerns seriously that Hunter Biden’s appointment to Burisma raised a conflict of interest.

The State Department staff alerted Vice President Biden’s staff that Burisma controlled “rights to hydrocarbon reserves in Ukraine” to explain why Russian political elites viewed Hunter Biden’s appointment at Busima as a threat:

Current Biden-appointed Deputy to the U.S. Representative to the United Nations Jeffrey Prescott was then-Vice President Biden’s Deputy National Security Advisor. Prescott was being alerted about the conflict of interest by the Obama NSC and Biden’s own lawyers.

Biden’s Chief of Staff, Counsel and other high-level officials were alerted to allegations that Hunter Biden’s appointment to Burisma raised conflict of interest issues.

Biden’s Counsel had sufficient concerns that she reached out directly to national security advisor Jeffrey Prescott asking, “Do you have a minute to talk about this?”

The Office of the Vice President Coordinated Directly with Hunter Biden On Press Inquiries

Emails reveal that Hunter Biden had a close relationship with his father’s Vice Presidential staff and advised them on how to respond to the media. There appeared to be no separation between the official business of the Office of the Vice President and Hunter’s private business dealings:
