Defending The Republic Good News
Good News Friday: 03/01/24
March 01, 2024
Dear Patriot,
Part of the game plan of the globalist, communist elites is to depress and demoralize the masses.
We have been refusing to play along.
Every week we hunt down the news that proves all is not lost.
Enjoy!
1- We were very proud this week to have been able to release more of the Moderna documents. In case you missed the announcement on Thursday, here is a link to all the background. We want to take on these efforts and your support allows that to happen. Thank you all for being in our corner!
Defending The Republic Obtains Moderna Documents
QUOTE: Defending the Republic (DTR) is releasing nearly 5,600 pages of animal studies submitted by Moderna to the FDA in support of the approval of its COVID-19 vaccine “Spikevax.”
This is the most significant and largest release of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine animal studies to-date, and is the result of DTR’s successful Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) case against the FDA.
These documents build upon the substantial public releases of the Moderna documents already provided by DTR after it sued the FDA. In July 2023, DTR released nearly 15,000 pages of documents – the first significant disclosure of data from Moderna’s COVID-19 clinical trials – which revealed the causes of deaths, serious adverse events, and neurological disorders potentially associated with Moderna’s vaccine. DTR provided thousands more pages in October of 2023 which included a listing of adverse events for thousands of clinical participants who received doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine.
2- A big win for any conservative who may need to hire an attorney.
Court Smacks Down D.C. Bar Lawfare Against Trump Official
QUOTE: Trump-era Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark won a big victory against Democrat lawfare on Monday when the D.C. Court of Appeals ruled he did not have to comply with a subpoena issued by the D.C. Bar’s Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
The appeals court denied the D.C. Bar’s attempt to enforce its subpoena against Clark because it “infringes on Mr. Clark’s Fifth Amendment right not to be compelled to be a witness against himself.” The court did not release a full opinion but promised to do so in the future.
The victory for Clark serves as a shocking blow to Democrats, who have tried to disbar more than 100 attorneys who agreed to work on election integrity cases following the 2020 presidential election. They’ve expanded that lawfare to attorneys across the nation who defend conservatives, including half of Republican attorneys general.
The D.C. Bar’s case against Clark is part of a widespread and well-funded effort by Democrats to make it illegal to be a Republican lawyer. Several Trump-affiliated lawyers, including John Eastman and Rudy Giuliani, have faced punishment for their roles in election cases. That is why Clark’s victory is so significant.
3- Right here in good ol’ USA we have a NEW discovery of rare earth elements. We do not need China for these minerals.
Wyoming’s Rare Earth Breaks China Dependency
QUOTE: There is excellent news for the American industry, economy, and international trade sectors. The discovery of colossal rare earth deposits in Wyoming could essentially restructure the global supply chain of these crucial elements in the near future.
A discovery of 2.34 billion metric tons of rare earth elements (REEs) in a mine outside of Sheridan, Wyoming, has generated great excitement across industries stateside. For one, the reserves are estimated to be bigger than China’s current reserves, implying that this single find could end America’s reliance on Chinese exports if exploited judiciously.
According to available data, the U.S. uses about 8,300 metric tons of these vital elements annually. The Brook Mine in Wyoming is believed to have reserves totaling 1.2 million metric tons, making America the world’s largest processor of some of the most in-demand REEs.
Secondly, the mine is said to be rich in two of the most sought-after rare earth elements – neodymium and praseodymium oxides. Considering that rare earth minerals are crucial to a wide range of industries as varied as computer chips, wind turbines, electric vehicle batteries, specialized glass products, and defense purposes, being self-sufficient could have a consequential impact on the country’s economy.
The reduced reliance on Chinese exports could significantly impact relations with America’s ‘strategic competitor.’ Beijing had begun to use REEs as a pawn in international relations. In 2023, China imposed restrictions on the export of some of the crucial minerals, leaving users scrambling to find alternate sources. President Xi’s quixotic Zero Covid policy and extended lockdowns had exposed how utterly dependent key sectors were on Chinese exports.
The REEs discovered in Wyoming is a boost in the arm of the American economy. Beyond the US borders, the restructuring of the REE market could help to reign in China and President Xi’s ambitions over the coming decade.
4- We wish more Attorneys General would fight as hard as Ken Paxton.
In win for Paxton, court declares $1.7 trillion federal omnibus was passed unconstitutionally
QUOTE: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Tuesday secured a major victory in his challenge to the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending package passed in 2022, with a court declaring that the bill was approved unconstitutionally.
President Joe Biden signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 in December of the prior year. The measure effectively set the federal budget for the year by wrapping the 12 annual appropriations bills into a single piece of legislation. Paxton, however, had argued that the House’s passage of the measure was unconstitutional as less than half of the lower chamber’s members were physically present to vote on it. Many lawmakers who were not present voted by proxy. Paxton had specifically challenged stipulations in the bill that affect his state.
Paxton, for his part, celebrated the decision, saying that “Congress acted egregiously by passing the largest spending bill in U.S. history with fewer than half the members of the House bothering to do their jobs, show up, and vote in person.”
“Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi abused proxy voting under the pretext of COVID-19 to pass this law, then Biden signed it, knowing they violated the Constitution. This was a stunning violation of the rule of law. I am relieved the Court upheld the Constitution,” he concluded.
5- Paxton is fighting back against porn available to children in the state of Texas.
Texas AG challenges global porn giant over alleged age check violations
QUOTE: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has initiated legal proceedings against Aylo Global Entertainment, a prominent pornography distribution company, for allegedly violating HB 1181, a Texas law mandating reasonable age verification measures to shield minors from exposure to explicit materials.
Aylo Global Entertainment oversees several major pornography websites, including the well-known platform Pornhub. Instead of complying with Texas law, which necessitates providers of explicit sexual content to implement age verification systems, the company allegedly exposes minors to pornographic content without proper age checks.
Attorney General Paxton is seeking an injunction against Aylo Global, compelling the implementation of adequate age verification measures and potential civil penalties amounting to millions of dollars for non-compliance.
In Nov. 2023, Attorney General Paxton secured a significant legal victory at the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, allowing Texas to enforce the age verification law. Companies violating these requirements may face fines of up to $10,000 per day, an additional $10,000 per day if the corporation wrongfully retains identifiable information, and a hefty $250,000 penalty if a minor is exposed to explicit content due to inadequate age verification.
“Texas has the right to protect its children from the detrimental effects of pornographic content,” emphasized Attorney General Paxton. “I look forward to holding any company accountable that violates our age verification laws intended to prevent minors from being exposed to harmful, obscene material on the internet.”
6- Good news for fair elections in Delaware. This also sets a precedence.
Delaware court rules permanent absentee, early voting laws violate state constitution
QUOTE: A Delaware court has ruled that state laws on early and permanent-absentee voting violate the state constitution.
The state’s Superior Court ruled Friday that a 2019 law passed by the state legislature, which allows 10 days of early voting, violates the state constitution that the General Election is to be held on one day.
The court also found that the state’s Permanent Absentee Voting Statute violates state law by allowing voters to be placed on a permanent absentee voting list where ballots would automatically be sent to them for each election.
The voting laws were challenged in court by the Public Interest Legal Foundation.
The group initially brought the lawsuit in 2022 on behalf of Michael Mennella, an inspector of elections for the Delaware Department of Elections.
The law firm also brought and won a lawsuit in the state Supreme Court on behalf of Mennella in 2022 regarding a state law allowing same-day voter registration and universal vote-by-mail. The state’s high court ruled that the law violated the state’s constitution.
“This decision invalidated Delaware laws that allowed for early and permanent absentee voting,” PILF President J. Christian Adams said Monday. “States cannot pass election laws that conflict with their state constitution. This decision is a win for the rule of law.”
7- It is a bit rare to read stories about happy families who are raising great kids. But it is happening out there!
Homeschooled Teen Showcases Incredible Talent in Woodworking, Bladesmithing, and Leatherworking, Aspires to Learn Every Trade Known to Mankind
QUOTE: In the past, artisan skills such as leather working and woodworking were more common than they are today. While these time-honored traditions are becoming rare, one teenager is helping to keep them alive through being a diligent student of tradition and passionately creating with his hands.
15-year-old Lincoln Cashell resides in Virginia with his parents, Casey Cashell, 39, and Jason Cashell, 45, and siblings: Chamberlain, 13, Holly, 11, and Athans, 6.
Mr. and Mrs. Cashell own and manage Mayhurst Estate, a luxury bed-and-breakfast and retreat center. Together the parents homeschool their four children.
Lincoln’s homeschooling journey has given him more time to do what he loves, and his parents describe his learning as “hands-on.” The teenager became interested in woodworking when he received his first knife at the age of 5. By the time he was 7, he was making little trinkets and models out of toothpicks.
Soon, Lincoln connected with a mentor, who taught him more about wood carving, and with the help of Mr. Cashell he was able to hone his skills in carpentry.
As he took on more projects, Lincoln began to pick up other skills, and he began learning the trade of blacksmithing and leatherworking as well.“He is always creating,” Mrs. Cashell said.
Some of his skills are self-taught, such as using CAD 3D design software. Learning this computer program has proven to be useful for the family. When a part from Mr. Cashell’s car broke, Lincoln designed a matching piece using CAD, printed it on a 3D printer, and plastic welded it.
With his interest simultaneously growing in leathermaking, Lincoln has also crafted special leather knife cases stamped with oak leaves and acorns for his grandfather’s old knives. Identifying marks were stamped on the case so that his visually impaired grandfather could feel them.
Over the last seven years, Mr. Cashell has been reading biographies of people from various backgrounds every evening to the children and then taking them in person to historic sites. This way, the parents believe their children get to know the important figures from history personally.
