Emergency Audit Demanded by Senators by @DavedaGruber

Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas will lead a group of GOP senators to object to the January 6th certification unless an emergency ten day audit of the results by an electoral commission takes place.

Cruz, along with fellow Senators Ron Johnson, R-Wis.; James Lankford, R-Okla.; Steve Daines, R-Mont.; John Kennedy, R-La.; Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and Mike Braun, R-Ind.

Joining them are Senators elect Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.; Roger Marshall, R-Kansas; Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., and Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.

The aforementioned senators claim that the November 3rd election “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud and illegal conduct.”

Their claims are separate from Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., who has said that he will object to what he claims was the failure of some states to follow their own election laws. He refers to Pennsylvania in his claims and said that he will object to the electoral college certification of a Joe Biden win on January 6th.

On Saturday the senators released a statement that read, “Voter fraud has posed a persistent challenge in our elections, although its breadth and scope are disputed. By any measure, the allegations of fraud and irregularities in the 2020 election exceed any in our lifetimes.”

Both the senators and senators-elect are calling for Congress to appoint a commission to conduct a 10-day emergency audit of the election returns in states where the results are disputed.

Cited as a precedent is the 1877 race between Samuel Tilden and Rutherford Hayes. There were allegations of fraud in multiple states in that year.

In an article written by me yesterday entitled ” What’s Going to Happen on January Sixth?”, I inserted a video which clearly shows a precedent of  Democrats objecting to election results in 2016 but that went nowhere.

Also, the senators said that there is precedent set in 1969, 2001, 2005 and 2019 and in both 1969 and 2005, a Democratic Senator joined with a Democratic House Member in forcing votes in both houses on whether to accept the presidential electors being challenged.

The statement by the Senators goes on to say, “In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy. Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission — consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices  ̶̶  to consider and resolve the disputed returns.”

The statement also says, “We should follow that precedent. To wit, Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states. Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.”

If all of this does not happen, the senators intend to vote against certification.

The statement reads, “Accordingly, we intend to vote on January 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’ (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed.”

In a separate statement Senators Blackburn and Hagerty said, “American democracy relies on the consent of the governed. Allegations of voter fraud, irregularities and unconstitutional actions diminish public confidence in what should be a free, fair and transparent process. Protecting the integrity of the electoral process is paramount to preserving trust and legitimacy in the final outcome.”

Although there are members of Congress who dispute that there was no evidence to prove that there was fraud in the 2020 election or that it was rigged, they failed to discuss that no evidence was allowed to be presented in a court of law.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been urging Republicans behind closed doors not to contest the election results.

Are there enough members of Congress to ensure a fair election took place? Maybe not but we must try every legal maneuver possible.

The American people are not stupid. We seek information and come to our own conclusions. We will not be fooled by those who we elected to work for we the people.

President Trump has repeatedly claimed he beat Biden, who in an unprecedented flipped some states including Georgia and Arizona in the wee hours of the morning, to get over the 270 Electoral College votes which are needed to win the election.

This battle is not about President Trump. It is about a free country which holds free elections.

Folks, if this election is accepted as fair, we have truly lost our country to those who would cheat and rig an election for their own alleged political and possibly monetary gain.
