Help Parents Defending Education keep winning against ideological activists in your kids’ schools

Three years ago – nearly to the day – the National School Boards Association (NSBA) released its now-famous September 29, 2021, letter to President Joe Biden (read it in PDE’s archive now) comparing concerned parents at local school board meetings to “domestic terrorism.”

The NBSA letter went so far as to request that President Biden leverage “the expertise and resources of the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, and its National Threat Assessment Center.”

And just three days after that, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and the U.S. Department of Justice announced a brand-new initiative (you can read the DOJ memo) … targeting those very same parents!

Stephen, thanks to your generous support, Parents Defending Education was able to act swiftly and decisively – and score major wins for parents, free speech, and American education.

With the help of generous supporters like you, Parents Defending Education was the FIRST or ONLY organization to:

• Reveal that the White House had worked with the NSBA over “several weeks” – and even requested specific information be included in the final letter,
• Document the timeline of White House conversations with the NSBA,
• Demand a response from state school board associations – with thirty states choosing to distance themselves or terminate their membership NSBA entirely, and
• Lead a massive – and game-changing – public response, with 7,300+ people sending letters to demand an apology from Attorney General Garland, 1,700+ people sending letters to the Department of Education’s Inspector General, and 1,900+ people sending letters to both the Department of Education and the Department of Justice to demand full transparency.

Ultimately, the NSBA apologized and withdrew the letter.

But the memo from the Department of Justice was never rescinded or apologized for.

Parents Defending Education showed that when America’s education bureaucracy wrongly targets parents concerned about their local schools, we will always speak up for free speech and a safe, non-political education in all schools.

While we scored a significant victory in 2021, our work continues in 2024 – and likely many years beyond. Thank you for your continued support in this important mission.
