Lucasfilm Fires Conservative Actress Gina Carano Who Criticized ‘Hating Someone for Their Political Views’

Disney’s Lucasfilm has fired conservative actress Gina Carano following her social media post critical of “hating someone for their political views.”

Carano had posted a now-deleted comment noting that the Nazi government had first convinced the German citizenry to hate people simply for their religious beliefs, NewsBusters reports:

“This clearly follows the latest Twitter round of #FireGinaCarano after the actress shared an Instagram post on Wednesday likening current political discourse with Nazi Germany that read:

‘Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?’

On Wednesday, Lucasfilm released a statement saying it had fired Carano because her social media posts were “denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities,” Variety reports:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

But, as NewsBusters notes, Carano’s post actually appears to actually condemn discrimination against people who hold opposing religious and cultural views. What’s more, comparing the Trump administration to that of Hitler’s was commonplace during Trump’s presidency:

“Seems like this is the opposite of ‘denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities,’ but somehow the post was labeled “anti-Semitic.” Suddenly, comparing current events to Nazi Germany is “abhorrent and unacceptable” just weeks after leftists were comparing the Capitol riot to Kristallnacht and after 5 years of Trump being called Hitler and his supporters being damned as Nazis.”

Carano’s firing has prompted backlash on social media, with #CancelDisneyPlus “rocketing to the very top of Twitter’s trending news list,” and notable influencers’ posts noting liberal hypocrisy regarding free speech, Daily Wire reports.
