he House committee investigating the Capitol riot announced a new wave of subpoenas targeting high-profile associates of former President Donald Trump.
Rudy Giuliani, who was Trump’s personal lawyer and led Trump’s 2020 election legal team, was sent a subpoena along with lawyers Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell, as well as Republican strategist Boris Epshteyn.
“The four individuals advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn election results, or were in direct contact with the former President,” the Jan. 6 committee said in a tweet.
“We expect these individuals to join the nearly 400 witnesses who have spoken with the Select Committee as the committee works to get answers for the American people about the violent attack on our democracy,” the panel said in another.
The subpoenas seek documents and deposition testimony.
