Rick Scott: ‘Militant Left’ is the ‘enemy within’ and ‘greatest danger’ to US

ORLANDO, Florida — The greatest threat to the United States is not foreign powers such as Russia or China, but rather the internal threat of the “militant left-wing,” according to Florida Sen. Rick Scott.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee’s chairman indicated domestic ideological disparities were the most perilous to the U.S. because the “woke Left” has been crushing dissent across several institutions, both public and private.
“We survived the war of 1812, Civil War, World War I and World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Cold War,” Scott said Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “Today, we face the greatest danger we have ever faced: The militant left-wing in our country has become the enemy within.”
“You may think, ‘Well, Rick, that’s pretty dramatic. You call them the enemy within?’ Yes, I am,” Scott said. “The woke Left now controls the Democrat Party. The entire federal government, the news media, academia, big tech, Hollywood, most corporate boardrooms, and now even some of our top military leaders.”

Scott indicated government military and intelligence policies aimed at rooting out “extremism” were often dog whistles for targeting conservatives.
“They want to end the American experiment. They want to replace freedom with control,” Scott said.
The crowd of several thousand cheered when he proposed implementing term limits ”not just for politicians, but also for government bureaucrats.”
At one point, a man in the crowd stood up and yelled: “You’re a senator. What are you going to do about it?” When Scott offered no reply, the heckler stormed out of the conference room.
RICK SCOTT FLAG-SALUTING, WALL-BUILDING, COLORBLIND POLICY VISION HAS SURPRISES
The Florida Republican has put forth a legislative vision should the GOP reclaim control of Congress in the midterm elections, and he touted last week’s 11-point policy plan to “Rescue America” during his CPAC remarks.
Notably, Scott released his 11-point plan not through the NRSC apparatus but through his own campaign, even though he is not up for reelection this cycle. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has declined to lay out an agenda for what Republicans would do if they win back the upper chamber.
Among other points, the plan underscores the threat China poses, calling for a gradual reduction of all imports from China until it ends human rights abuses.
“We must extract ourselves from dependence on Communist China and stop buying anything from Communist China,” Scott said. “It’s pretty simple. They want to destroy us, and we cannot rely on them for anything. Not pharmaceuticals, computer chips, TVs, clothing, cheap toys, any of their crap.”

Republicans are expected to have a strong showing in November, with election experts suggesting they could reclaim control of both chambers of Congress in part due to President Joe Biden’s poor approval ratings.
CPAC, which has been overshadowed by the invasion, began in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday and will conclude on Sunday.
