Spree stabber ‘terrorized teen girls at sleepover,’ killing hero 15-year-old girl and four others
Authorities in Rockford, Illinois are investigating a crime scene that looks like a horror movie scene after a stabbing suspect killed three people before terrorizing a group of teen girls at a spring break sleepover, allegedly murdering the 15-year-old with a bat

Three girls were at home on spring break watching a movie. Jenna Newcomb, 15, was hanging out with a sister and a friend in her home when Soto had snuck in through an open garage, opened the back door, grabbed a bat in the kitchen, and went after the teens.
Newcomb’s mother said Jenna died saving her sister and her friend, who were wounded in the attack on their lives. Police were able to intercept Soto after Jenna’s friend was able to escape. Before authorities caught up with him, Soto allegedly stabbed to death three others: Ramona Schupbach, 63, Jacob Schupbach, 23, and Jay Larson, 49.
The incident reportedly started with Soto smoking marijuana with his friend, Jacob Schupbach. The joint was reportedly laced with ‘an unknown substance.’ Soto became paranoid, stabbing Jacob and his mother to death. He then left the home – going on a terrifying rampage.
The Rockford PD says this happened on the 2300 Holmes Street. Witnesses say they saw Soto chasing Jacob down the street with an unknown item and knocking him down to the floor. Soto then got into a car and backed up over Jacob.

At some point Jacob was able to escape and ran back into the house, where Soto followed. Witnesses say soto left the home some time later and driving off in the same vehicle.
Soto fled to the 2200 block of Winnetka Lane, where he attacked a mailman outside of a home. Soto was seen punching 49-year-old Jay Larson by a witness, who said that he tried to help the mailman but saw Soto trying to approach the door.
The witness locked the door and called 911, but at that point, Soto had taken out a large knife and began stabbing Larson all over his body.

Soto then got into the pickup truck, and proceeded to run over Larson’s body, before reversing and doing it again. Then, Soto took off on foot.
After that, police started to get multiple reports of violent attacks from the community. Soto moved on to the 4800 block of Cleaveland Ave, where he forced his way into a home while a resident opened the door to take the dog for a walk.
One person was stabbed in the face, while two others rushed Soto and beat him back, becoming injured in the process. One of the men reportedly struck Soto with a syrup bottle before he fled.
Finally, Soto had gotten to the 4700 block of Cleaveland Avenue, where teenager Jenna Newcomb, her friend, and her sister, were watching a movie during a sleepover. Jenna and her friend were in the basement, but the sister had come up to the kitchen to fix something to eat when she witnessed Soto break in and grab a bat.
