Sticking It to China
If you’re a bit nauseated at the idea of the media, sporting world, and corporate sponsors spending the next few weeks drooling over China, you have plenty of company at National Review. That’s why, as the Chinese Communist Party uses the Winter Olympics as an opportunity to advance its propaganda interests, we have decided to use this period to highlight, on a daily basis, the true nature of the evil regime.
That’s why, if you view our site today, you’ll see a great lineup of stories. Jimmy Quinn, who has been killing the beat for us, has a great story about the China you won’t see during Olympics coverage. Jay Nordlinger, who has been covering this story since China’s unsuccessful quest for the 2000 Olympics, has a harrowing piece about the Genocide Games as well as a reminder of how Nazis exploited the 1936 Olympics to sanitize their regime. Jim Geraghty was way out ahead in reporting on the origins of the coronavirus, and today we have posted his in-depth piece fresh from the current magazine on the lab-leak theory. Additionally, Senator Ben Sasse writes urging readers to delete China’s spy app, and Nina Shea details the Chinese Communist Party’s second genocide — against Falun Gong.
While many in the international community prefer to look away, we intend to keep exposing the true nature of China. But as Jim Geraghty writes, we cannot do it without your generous support. We have launched a webathon aimed at raising money to support our work on China, and hope you will be able to lend us some support. Any amount — $5, $100, $1,000, whatever — can help us in our efforts to stick it to China.
