Committee chairs to meet today on next steps toward impeachment, Judiciary members prepared to work over weekend

The six committee chairs whose panels have been investigating President Donald Trump will meet to discuss articles of impeachment today, Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters told reporters.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced earlier Thursday that she had asked the chairmen to draft articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

“All of the committee chairs that you see meeting with Nancy Pelosi are feeding into what we think, you know, should the Judiciary decide,” Waters said. “They’re going to take a resolution that we all have input into what the articles should be in the resolution.”

Pelosi confirmed during her weekly news conference that the six chairs of the committees investigating Trump will make recommendations about articles of impeachment.

Pelosi declined to answer a question about whether the articles of impeachment should be focused on the Ukraine scandal or be broadened to include findings from the special counsel report or other matters Democrats have been investigating.
