As Vice President, Joe Biden took bribes from foreign nationals, and the Biden Administration Justice Department’s current prosecution of Pres. Biden’s leading 2024 Republican challenger is a “Banana Republic” tactic that’s bad for America, majorities of U.S. likely voters say in two new polls.

In a national survey of U.S. likely voters conducted June 12-14, Rasmussen Reports asked the following question regarding a comment made by Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy about the 37 counts of document-handling charges against former and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump:

“Do you agree or disagree with this statement: ’This is an affront to every citizen: we cannot devolve into a banana republic where the party in power uses police force to arrest its political opponents. It’s hypocritical for the DOJ to selectively prosecute Trump but not Biden’?”

Fifty-eight (58%) of all likely voters agree with Ramaswamy’s “Banana Republic” characterization of the Biden Administration’s prosecution of a political rival, including nearly half (46%) who “strongly agree.”

What’s more, 62% of unaffiliated voters at least somewhat agree with Ramaswamy, with about half (47%) “strongly” agreeing the Biden Administration has stooped to a Banana Republic tactic.

Unsurprisingly, self-described Republican voters (78%) are much more likely than Democrat voters (37%) to voice any level of agreement with the statement.

In a separate question, voters were asked whether they thought the Justice Department charging Trump with multiple felony counts was “good for America or bad for America.”

Here, 54% all of U.S. likely voters – and 59% of unaffiliated voters – say the Justice Department’s prosecution of Trump is bad for America. Thirty-five percent (35%) think Trump’s indictment is good for the nation, while 11% aren’t sure. And again, Republicans and Democrats largely disagree on the subject, though more than a third (36%) of Democrat voters say charging the Republican former president is bad for the country. ‘Do’

Meanwhile, a majority of voters say that they believe Biden and his family have taken bribes from foreign officials, according to a Convention of States Action-Trafalgar Group survey conducted June 5-9.

In this survey, voters were asked the following questions about the House Oversight Committee’s investigation of payments previously made to then-Vice President Joe Biden and his family by foreign nationals:

“As a result of the ongoing Congressional investigation into Hunter Biden, do you believe the Biden family received payments from foreign nationals to influence policy in Washington, DC?”

More than half (53.3%) of all voters – and 50.7% of independent voters – said they believe the Biden family has accepted bribes from foreign nationals in order to influence politics. Another 31.4% indicated that they believe Biden and his family are innocent.

Only 11.2% of Democrats say that they do believe the White House family accepted payments and 23.5% aren’t sure.

In contrast, 65.2% of Democrats say they don’t believe the Bidens took bribes, a sentiment shared by 31.4% of all voters, 29.8% of independents, and 4.8% of Republicans.

The investigation by House Republicans centers on their efforts to compel FBI Director Christopher Wray to release a series of unclassified documents detailing an FBI whistleblower’s accounts alleging then-Vice President Joe Biden’s involvement in a “pay to play” scheme, in which foreign nationals allegedly funneled money to Biden and his family, in exchange for influence on U.S. policy.

On May 10, the Oversight Committee published a report stating that the Biden family received millions of dollars from multiple Romanian and Chinese sources over a span of years. Now, the committee is seeking to identify and document the reason for the payments.
