Here is some news you may have missed over the weekend. We particularly encourage you to read the Jeffrey Tucker piece on The Deep State.
1- There is no taming this beast. There is nothing to salvage. It must be tossed into the trash bin of past history.
Jeffrey Tucker outlines the situation perfectly in this piece. We need to support candidates who view bureaucracy this way and will be committed to getting it out of our lives.
Once elected we need to hold them accountable to actually DO the job of destroying the Administrative State.
How To Tame a Bureaucracy? Get Rid of It
QUOTE: Any serious effort to end the crisis must deal with the problem of the administrative state and the bureaucratic power thereof. Without that focus, no reform effort can get anywhere. That is surely a main takeaway from the trauma of our times.
The solution has to be drastic and it has to work. The reason is simple: a free and functioning society cannot coexist with an undemocratic beast like this on the loose, making its own laws and running roughshod over rights and liberties with zero oversight from elected leaders. Until the administrative state is defanged and disempowered, there will be no representative government and no hope for change.
QUOTE: After Betsy DeVos left the Department of Education, and observing from the inside what a disaster it truly was, she said what needed to be said. Abolish it. Shut it down. Defund it completely. Forget about it. It does nothing useful. Everything it does can be performed better at the state level or private markets. All true.
What she says about the Department of Education is equally true of another hundred-plus agencies of the administrative state. People have been talking lately about abolishing the FBI. Great, do it. Same goes for the CDC. It’s time. Right now. Pull the plug on the whole thing and sell the real estate.
Truly there is no other option except continuing to do what we are doing now. The status quo is intolerable.
New CEOs do it all the time. They shut down whole divisions, let go thousands of employees, end relationships with suppliers, sell off properties, and do anything possible to save the company. They do it in order to survive. The company in this case is the United States and it too needs saving. To have any hope of that requires dismantling the unConstitutional structures of cruft that have grown up within government which have so completely alienated it from the will of the people.
There needs to be a to-be-abolished list and any federal government institution with the word agency, department, or bureau needs to be on it. The last few years have shown us the power of these institutions and the devastation they can cause. The only sure way of preventing it from happening again is to put a hard stop on all the bureaucracies that caused our suffering. Society itself, which is smarter than bureaucracy, can manage the rest.
2- One of the fastest ways to get our economy rocking and rolling again is to open up all ways of oil and gas production and distribution. It is good to see that at least one federal judge recognizes that the Executive Branch has no business in the oil business.
Judge Permanently Blocks Biden Oil and Gas Leasing Pause in 13 States
QUOTE: A federal judge Thursday issued a permanent injunction against the Biden administration’s pause of new oil and gas leasing in federal lands.
The injunction applies to the 13 states that sued the Biden administration over the moratorium in March 2021, including Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia.
Terry Doughty, the U.S. district judge for the Western District of Louisiana, ruled that the White House overreached in the ban.
Thirteen states led by Louisiana sued the Biden administration, saying the lease ban violated the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA), which governs offshore oil and gas leases, and the Mineral Leasing Act (MLA), which governs onshore land leases on federal lands.
Doughty issued a temporary injunction back in June 2022 in this case. The injunction was overthrown by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Wednesday.
Doughty’s permanent injunction came a day after the circuit court’s ruling.
In the permanent injunction, Doughty ruled that the executive branch has no authority to change both laws.
3- It is very important to call out the Democrat candidates on their dangerous policies.
We may not all love Dr. Oz but he is a better choice for Pennsylvania and the country than the far-left wing Fetterman.
John Fetterman Worse than Dukakis, Freed Two Horton Murderers from Prison
QUOTE: Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D), running against Mehmet Oz for the state’s open United States Senate seat, is worse than failed Democrat presidential candidate Michael Dukakis when it comes to freeing violent criminals from prison, Kimberly Guilfoyle says.
In an exclusive interview with SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Saturday, Guilfoyle blasted Fetterman as a “dangerous” choice to fill Pennsylvania’s open Senate seat as a crime wave sweeps the state and nation
“It’s appalling to me the number of murderers, people who have committed violent crimes that [John Fetterman] has actually let out … that’s what people don’t get — he’s a very dangerous choice,” Guilfoyle said. “It reminds me of the days when we talk about Dukakis. [Fetterman] actually let out two Hortons — two murderers — onto the streets and I think that it’s important and that we drill down on this and get to the bottom of it because this man wants to be in the United States Senate,” she continued.
Guilfoyle is referring to Dukakis’s 1988 run for president where then-candidate George H.W. Bush ran an ad noting that the Massachusetts Democrat governor had supported a “weekend prison pass” program that let out convicted killer Willie Horton, who went on to kidnap a young couple, stab the man, and rape his girlfriend.
In Fetterman’s case, as Breitbart News reported, he has overseen the release of 13 convicted murderers while heading the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons. Two of those who had their life sentences commuted are convicted killers Dennis Horton and Lee Horton.
“Whose side is he on? The law-abiding American or those that actually commit crimes,” Guilfoyle said. “… We have someone saying, ‘Reward me with a United States Senate seat even though I don’t respect law and order, I don’t respect victims of violent crime, and in fact, I reward those who’ve hurt you and your family.'”
4- Another judge makes a good decision for the religious freedom of Marines.
Judge Grants Relief to Marines Denied Religious Exemption from Vaccine
QUOTE: U.S. District Court Judge Steven D. Merryday on Thursday evening granted a class-wide injunction that prohibits the Marine Corps from enforcing the Biden administration’s military vaccine mandate against or discharging Marines who filed for religious exemption from the mandate and who were denied.
The injunction gives relief to Marines who were affirmed by a chaplain as harboring a sincere religious objection to the vaccine, submitted a request for religious accommodation, were denied, and who appealed and were denied or will be denied after an appeal.
Merryday wrote in his order that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, et. al., are “PRELIMINARILY ENJOINED (1) from enforcing against a member of the class any order, requirement, or rule to accept COVID-19 vaccination, (2) from separating or discharging from the Marine Corps a member of the class who declines COVID-19 vaccination, and (3) from retaliating against a member of the class for the member’s asserting statutory rights under [Religious Freedom Restoration Act].”
Merryday’s order adds the Marine Corps to the branches of the military blocked by court orders from taking punitive action towards those who have sought religious exemption from the mandate. So far, the Navy and the Air Force are also blocked from taking action against service members who have sought relief from the vaccine on the basis of their religious freedom.
DefendingTheRepublic.org continues to represent many service members from all branches including chaplains who are being horribly treated for asserting their rights not to be forced to take the experimental injection.
