“I don’t work for you”!

 “I don’t work for you”!

OBIDEN – HARRIS – BOLD FACED LIARS

They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.

A school board member for the York Suburban School District in Pennsylvania wrote an op-ed with a clear message for parents: “No, I don’t work for you.”

The piece reveals the school board member’s true feelings: that parents don’t know what’s best for their children and parents who are “offended” should “sue” or “take your child out of school.”

Sadly, I’m not surprised that a school board member would believe these anti-parent and frankly arrogant ideas — but I am shocked that one would be so bold as to publish them in a newspaper!

At Parents Defending Education it’s our goal to make sure parents know that this high-handed, contemptuous attitude that we’ve been seeing so much lately shouldn’t silence us into complacency about our children’s education.

You are in fact the best judge of what is best for your child — not a small group of school board members, administrators, and activists who want to use your children’s classrooms as a testing ground for their political agendas.

Have you seen overreaches like this in your local schools? Be sure to report it here so we can investigate the incident and inform other parents to be on the lookout. We can’t be everywhere at once, so your input is invaluable.

While it’s appalling that he felt so comfortable saying this, this official is just the latest in a string of education “leaders” who have let slip how they really feel about their constituents.

Chip– parents like you and I are listening, we’re watching, and we’re indignant about the way our elected school board officials, and others, are dismissing and mocking our concerns.

The bottom line is that it’s completely untrue that school board members don’t work for the public they serve.

Parents and concerned citizens like you and I are absolutely the board’s employers — and school board members have a responsibility to collaborate with their constituents, not rule over them.

But we can only make a difference by speaking up and speaking out.

If you’d like to get more involved with holding your local school board accountable, Parents Defending Education can help.

Check out these important resources, written for parents like you: “How to Speak to Your School Board,” “Three Questions and One Suggestion for Your School Board,” and even a starter guide on how to run for school board yourself!

At Parents Defending Education we are linking arms with our fellow parents to take back our schools from power-hungry activists and anyone else who doesn’t have our kids’ best interests at heart.

Chip, I hope you know how grateful I am for your continued support that empowers us to provide lifelines to concerned parents like you.
