Reps. Lesko, Jordan Call B.S. on New Coronavirus ‘Oversight’ Committee

(CNSNews.com) – On April 2, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced her intention to form a bipartisan “Select Committee on the Coronavirus Crisis,” to be chaired by Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.).
Today, the House will vote to approve that new oversight committee, despite objections from Republicans.

“This isn’t about assigning blame,” Pelosi said on the House floor Thursday. She said the committee “will ensure the historic investment of taxpayer dollars are being used wisely and efficiently and nobody is ripping us off. Where there’s big money — we know this — people will come up with a scam of some kind.”
But Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) is calling “B.S.” She said rooting out financial abuse is not the real purpose of the new committee:

Speaker Pelosi said, it’s going to be all bipartisan. I’m sorry, I don’t believe it. And the reason I don’t believe it is because since the beginning of 2019, I have served on three committees, including the Judiciary Committee, and in every single committee, the entire goal has been nonstop to criticize President Trump and try to influence the 2020 election.

And now you’re going to tell me that you’re going to have another oversight committee, although every standing committee has oversight on this? And we have inspector generals and the CARES Act has oversight. Now we need a ninth committee to do oversight, and it’s supposedly going to be bipartisan? I’m sorry, I call B.S.

And the reason I know this, it’s an election year…the reason I know this is because of past history. While Democrats were focusing on impeachment, the president was working on coronavirus.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told Fox News Wednesday night the new select committee is just another “impeachment committee.”

Because they’re out to stop this president, they’re out to stop the things that we believe in,” Jordan told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham.

We’ve got to fight — they’re out to stop them so much, they will pass tomorrow a select committee. We have eight different entities doing oversight of the money that was passed in the CARES Act, eight different committees doing oversight, and they’re going to create a select committee to put Clyburn in charge — the biggest fan of Joe Biden.

They’re going to pass that tomorrow because this is the committee they’re now going to make the new impeachment committee to go after the president during an election year — during the summer of an election year.
