Texas Gov. Abbott: ‘This Is Not Over’

After the Supreme Court ruled Monday that the Biden Administration can resume cutting the wire fence Texas installed to deter illegal immigrants trying to break into the U.S., Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) declared that his fight to secure the border isn’t over.

“This is not over,” Gov. Abbott promised in a social media post, reiterating that Texas’ razor wire is “an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings (President Joe) Biden encourages.

“I will continue to defend Texas’ constitutional authority to secure the border and prevent the Biden Admin from destroying our property,” Gov. Abbott vows.

In a follow-up post, the governor points to a statement by Texas Department of Public Safety Spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez assuring that Texas will continue to utilize border security measures, such as concertina wire and anti-climb barriers, in order to keep Texas safe from Biden’s policies:

“The State of Texas, under Gov. @GregAbbott_TX’s Operation Lone Star, will maintain its current posture in deterring illegal border crossings by utilizing effective border security measures – reinforced concertina wire & anti-climb barriers along the Rio Grande.

“The logical concern should be why the Federal Government continues to hinder Texas’ ability to protect its border, all while allowing for the exploitation, dangerous, & inhumane methods of permitting illegal immigrants, including children, to illegally cross a dangerous river where many have lost their lives. Texas is the only state using every strategy & resource to protect its sovereignty, combat criminal activity, & discourage illegal immigration.

#Texas will continue to hold the line.”

Indeed, the fight is not over, as Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec explains:

“To be clear, the Supreme Court ruling today was specifically about the court order on cutting razor wire.

“The 5th Circuit still needs to hear the actual case on its merits.”

“There is still a chance Texas wins.”

Thus, it’s still possible that the Supreme Court will, ultimately, rule on the side of U.S. border security, if Trump Appointee Justice Amy Comey Barrett and Bush-appointed Chief Justice John Roberts choose to do so.
