North Carolina parents hold prayer rally in protest of Satan club

OBIDEN – HARRIS ARE BOLD FACE

North Carolina parents are rejecting Satan in schools.

An “After School Satan Club” is currently under review by Guilford County Schools after a group of about 50 parents held a prayer rally on Friday outside of Joyner Elementary School in protest of a satanic club. Guilford County Schools told parents that it is not associated with the club, according to Fox 8 .

“Kind of a rallying thing to say, ‘We here in Greensboro does not want this in our schools,'” Tempe Moore, the organizer of the prayer rally, told the outlet.

The After School Satan Club program is run by the Satanic Temple at “select public schools” throughout the United States where Good News Clubs also meet. Children who take part in the program are offered “activities and learning opportunities” under a self-directed education plan that is designed to promote the “intellectual and emotional development” of students, according to the program’s website .

“We’re not trying to endorse Satanism or criticize other religious organizations,” Lucien Greave, the co-founder of the Satanic Temple, told the outlet. “Our club focuses on critical thinking, scientific rationalism.”

Moore said that widespread criticism of after-school Satan clubs coming to public schools was not a problem that was just “going to go away,” pointing to the existence of these clubs in other states. “Hopefully this will encourage churches there to take a stand,” Moore told the outlet.

Currently, the after-school program can be found in schools in Ohio , Indiana , Utah , and Illinois.

A school board in Pennsylvania voted 8-1 on April 19 to reject the after-school program from coming to Northern Elementary School in Dillsburg. The satanic club filed a lawsuit against the school board days after the vote, according to KTUL .

The Washington Examiner reached out to Joyner Elementary School and to the Satanic Temple for a comment but did not receive a response.
